  • Total Ricord 12/20/04
Description: "a good drawing is worth more than a long speech" (Flash)
Comments: Patrice Ricord's father "carved sculptures in wood" and his mother was a teacher in the arts. And his grandfather worked with Renoir. An artistic family. At only 14, Patrice's caricatures of teachers impressed a magazine publisher, who encouraged Ricord to finish his studies and "then come back and see us." According to the Biographie, when Ricord did just that and got hired by the magazine, he created a series "whose graphic style was to revolutionise the art of Caricature." The content you'll find at today's pick is Patrice Ricord's 25th album of works. It's an online book of caricatures, portraits, and other drawings, plus some very tasty wallpapers and ecards – qualité totale...

  • The Saline Project 12/12/04
Description: a showcase of music videos (Quicktime)
Comments: A directing, designing, animating, editing, photographing robot is at the helm this morning. Constructed with devices, cartriges, and servos plus a love component and even an evil lever, its output deck is apparently working. Start with a few music videos from The Cure and work your way through the list of 9. Watch. Listen. Enjoy your Sunday...;~]

  • minzky.com 12/11/04
Description: multiple exposures by Maike Minzky
Comments: A truly exceptional collection of photos, divided into 3 distinct categories – multiples, illumine, and mono. It's hardly surprising that Maike's photography is so popular – it's different in several wonderful ways...;~))

  • Old Instanbul Postcards 12/7/04
Description: a collection of old postcards
Comments: Sedat Tokay has a most unique collection and I, for one, appreciate him sharing it on the web. There's over 50 scans of postcards, all from the early-to-mid 1900s. If you're interested in a visual taste of Instanbul back then, the postcards' drawings and photographs satisfy...;~))

  • Web Gallery of Art 12/5/04
Description: A virtual museum and searchable database of European painting and sculpture of the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods (1100-1800)...
Comments: There's over 12,000 reproductions of art in its catalogue, covering European art of the 12th-18th centuries. Search the database, browse by artist, or take one of the site's many guided tours. Launched in 1996, initially covering a more limited period, the site also offers a free postcard service. Works like a charm...;~))  [RadioGladio < Design Radar]

  • Passages 12/3/04
Description: glimpses of urban life via a map of the Parisian Metro (Flash)
Comments: A map of the Metro route "forms a broad but limited area with outstreched feelers" providing "insight into a Parisian city-neurotic." The map is a tree with countless connections and becomes the author's "own operation-field of his playing obsession." With that said, explore some stops on the Parisian Metro, each with its own unique visual/textual narrative. Superb...
